Our Founding
In the wake of actions taken which catastrophically rewrote each of their lives, the organization’s founding directors became aware of a class in our community who stand seeking to live a life-of-service all the while forced to endure extreme vulnerability and possible harm and ruin; the Service-Member Class. All too often, individuals or organizations overstep lawful and ethical lines-in-the-sand in pursuit of furthering their position, acts which are unavoidably at the expense to another’s rights and liberties. Often, members are forced between following what they believe to be right, just, and true and the fear of possible harm and ruin which could ensue. Alas, like so many others, so too were the directors of this organization, Jeremiah Keller, Jamie Carter, DC, and Patrick Carter, forced onto a path they believe should not exist in a free and just nation. As such, in 2021, Light Eternal Institute was formed by the organization’s directors who felt called to create a resource to educate, unite, and empower members of our nation, with a passionate focus on the Service-Member Class.
Jeremiah Keller is the father of two amazing children and a husband to his incredible wife, Sarah, a Nurse Practitioner and fellow Service-Member. Jeremiah is a devoted Service-Member to his community, beautiful family, and his church congregation. Recently, Jeremiah transitioned from a well-established automotive career to completing his training as a Biomedical Engineer Technician. During this challenging period of his life, Jeremiah became unable to continue his education as initially constructed and was forced to establish and secure an alternative clinical education site which would allow Jeremiah to hold to his deeply seated religious beliefs and, in parallel, complete his required training. Blessed to have found an institution which valued such rights, Jeremiah was able to complete his education, graduate with high honors, and go on to secure a position with the same liberty-minded institution to begin his new career.
Jamie Carter and Patrick Carter are Service-Members who have devoted their lives to serving others, both as individuals and now together as a married couple. Jamie graduated Cum Laude as a Doctor of Chiropractic and served the members of her community for six years before pausing her practice to pursue a medical degree to expand her scope of care and further her education. In 2019, Jamie was accepted into medical school and again began a journey as a full-time student in a demanding service program. In 2021, Jamie completed her second year of Osteopathic Medical School in the top quartile of her class.
Since Patrick’s childhood, he has aspired to become a Serviceman in the United States Military and a Doctor of Medicine. In January of 2009, Patrick joined the U.S. Air Force where he pushed to become an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician. Later, in early 2019, Patrick was accepted into medical school, a dream he direly pursued for over a decade was now a reality. With the blessing to attend medical school alongside his wife, Jamie, Patrick was able to thrive in his medical curriculum and, in parallel, continue his Military Service where in 2019 he again reenlisted to continue his service as an EOD Tech. and U.S. Airman.
Tragically, despite Jamie and Patrick’s character, performance, and standing, in May of 2021, they were both denied religious accommodation for their sincerely held religious beliefs and later removed from their medical program, forced into a leave of absence. Though Jamie and Patrick are consumers to a university founded on a platform which validates and aligns with their religious beliefs, Jamie and Patrick now face a reality with two years nullified by the receipt of non-degree-granted instruction and almost $400,000.00 in medical education debt. These acts by members of a large corporation opened Jamie and Patrick’s eyes to a vulnerability within select institutions capable of causing great harm to our communities if exploited.
In addition to Patrick and Jamie fight to become medical doctors and serve their rural community, they are working equally as hard for the continuation of Patrick’s military service. Patrick has formed a deep-seated love for civil and human rights, the absolute importance for the rule of law, and the uniqueness and importance of United States of America through lived experiences traveling to, and often living in, roughly 40 countries on six continents and standing in many of the world’s human-suffrage sites, including: the DMZ between North and South Korea; Auschwitz Concentration Camp, Poland; the Killing Fields of Cambodia, Cambodia; Dachau Concentration Camp, Germany; memorials in remembrance to the genocide of the Indigenous people of Argentina, Argentina; the sacrificial Cenotes of Mexico, Mexico; war-zones of Afghanistan; etc.…
Diversity of thought, creed, and ambition among those who pledge allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America must be safeguarded. The rule of law must be protected. Over the years, more and more citizens have been affected and left without ability or resources required to defend against injustice and violation of their rights. Patrick and Jamie’s love for the Military drives and will continue to drive their effort for continued service as a member of the United States Armed Forces, and their calling to serve as medical doctors will continue to drive their fight for individual liberties and the reinstatement into their medical degree curriculum. Additionally, Jamie and Patrick’s role within Light Eternal Institute will be to work towards ensuring other healthcare students (i.e., Service-Members and future caregivers) have the resources required to complete his/her education as advertised.
Through this journey, each of the directors felt a calling to form Light Eternal Institute, an organization communities can trust to stand united by purpose and mission for the betterment of all people. Together, we must protect the rights those before us have secured to ensure the future generations are able to live as free Men and Women of an Elected Republic. Light Eternal Institute’s vision is to ensure the rule of law is equal, known, real, and in reach for all citizens alike
